Career begin in 1973 as a volunteer firefighter with the Lawrence, IN FD. Obtained my EMT-B in 1977 and began work with Wishard Ambulance Division. In 1983 I was hired by the FBHFD, and two years later hired as career firefighter/EMT with the City of Lawrence. In 1992, I was class valedictorian of my paramedic class at Methodist Hospital. In 1995, the opportunity came along to join the Carmel Fire Department. Over the many years to follow, I helped train many paramedics in my role as a field internship paramedic preceptor for Methodist & St. Vincent Hospitals. For a little over ten years, I taught ACLS & PALS at St. Vincent Hospital. During that period of time, I helped co-develop a Human Cadaver Lab program for the paramedic program which broadened out to nurses, physicians, health care professionals & even high school & EMT students. After 43.5 years as a firefighter/paramedic, I retired from Carmel Fire. I currently am an instructor with The Indiana Spine Group Medical Academic Center in Carmel, IN. Last year we educated over 1200 high school & middle school students through our gross anatomy human cadaver lab.
